SPS Hard Corals

General Care Information: Small Polyped Stony corals have small polyps on a calcareouss skeleton that can be branching or plated. SPS hard corals are generally more difficult to keep than other types of corals. Are not recommended for beginners.

Diet: Varies among different species of SPS Hard Corals.
Feeding: In general they like to eat Filter feeding invert food.
Behavior: These species is generally semi-aggressive toward other tankmates.
Care: Many consider these species to be high-maintenance specimens.
Lighting: Has strong lighting needs. Symbiotic algae zooxanthellae are hosted within this organism.
Water flow: Requires medium to high water flow.
General notes: SPS (small polyp stony corals) require consistent, metabolite-free water and intense lighting to maintain their color and normal growth patterns in well-circulated conditions.
Water parameters: Keep water quality high (SG 1.023 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F).
